Philip Kerpen arbeitet als Patentanwalt mit Schwerpunkt im Bereich der Elektro-, Computer- und Informationstechnik und Physik, insbesondere auf dem Gebiet der Software, Mess- und Regeltechnik, Kryptografie, Maschinelles Lernen und verteilte Systeme.
Philip Kerpen studierte Physik mit Schwerpunkt Festkörperphysik an der ETH Zürich. Seine Masterarbeit im Jahr 2012 eröffnete neue Möglichkeiten in der Charakterisierung von organischen Halbleitern. Es folgten wissenschaftliche Projekte an der ZHAW in der Entwicklung von Simulationswerkzeugen und an der EMPA im Bereich der Elektrolyse und Wasserstoffspeicherung. 2015 wechselte er in die Industrie und arbeitete bei einem führenden Produktentwicklungsunternehmen in Zürich als Systemingenieur im Bereich der Mess- und Regeltechnik in regulierten Industrien. Seit Oktober 2017 ist Philip Kerpen bei RENTSCH PARTNER tätig und seit 2021 zugelassener Vertreter vor dem europäischen Patentamt.
