Andrea Carreira’s focus as a European Patent Attorney resides in the field of life sciences, in particular, chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology and related technologies.
After graduating with a master’s degree in chemistry from the ETH Zürich, Andrea Carreira received a PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT, USA) on her research in the development of polymers for drug delivery. As a Postdoctoral Research Associate (California Institute of Technology, USA) she gained further research experience in the fields of molecular biology and magnetic resonance imaging. Subsequently, she joined a large US law firm (Los Angeles, USA), where she worked as a patent agent. After a two year stay in the patent department of a large pharmaceutical company (Basel, CH), she joined a Zurich patent and trademark law firm where she was advising and supporting clients in various patent issues for 10 years (including drafting and prosecution of patent applications and supplementary protection certificates, opinions, litigation work). Andrea Carreira joined RENTSCH PARTNER as a patent attorney in November 2012.
