Andreas Gygi works as a patent attorney focusing on electrical, computer and information technologies, in particular in computer software for a wide spectrum of applications including telecommunications, security technologies, digital signal processing, control engineering, and medical engineering.

Andreas Gygi studied electrical engineering at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich. Afterwards, he teached for two years as an assistant and lecturer for the ETH Zurich and other technical schools. In 1994, at the Institute for Signal- and Information Processing of the ETH Zurich, he wrote a doctoral thesis on the analysis of muscular signals. Thereafter he worked in the fields of information technology and scientific computing for SWITCH (Swiss Universities Network) and for the Institute for Terrestrial Ecology of the ETH Zurich. He completed the post-graduate course in intellectual property at the ETH Zurich in 2003 and worked thereafter as a patent attorney in two patent law firms in Bern. Andreas Gygi joined Rentsch Partner Ltd. as a patent attorney in October 2011.
